Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal renovation sets new standard for wrought iron use!
The new Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal in Budapest (Hungary) is getting listed between the top five hotels in Europe for his world class excellence.

The 19th century Royal building, which first opened for the millennium exhibition in 1896, has been renovated to its original grandeur. "The façade, as well as parts of the large staircase, are original, while traditional architecture was blended with modern style to create a unique harmony at other parts of the building," said Diána Dóczi, the hotel's PR and Marketing Coordinator.
Nearly a mile of wrought iron railing decorates the staircase, while the public area is laid with 384 tons of Spanish marble and Italian limestone, but the most eye-catching feature of the Conference Center is its beautifully restored Grand Ballroom with a ceiling height of 10.9m, with 72 tons of inlaid marble, and three wrought iron chandeliers, each weighing over a ton, and said to be exact replicas of the originals!

LUMINORE
Seventeen years ago, while working in his high-end furniture business, Tom Valente had a revolutionary idea: Why not develop a metal that could be easily sprayed? "Many of my jobs involved using sheet metals and gold leafing. If the design called for more detail and texture, often it would have to be sent to a metal shop for forming -- and at high cost" says Valente. " I wanted to manufacture a piece of furniture, with inexpensive materials, that looked like it came out of the foundry." LuminOre was founded in 1993, after 17 years and over half a million dollars invested in research and development, LuminOre® Composite Metals was born. Valente founded LuminOre, Incorporated, and made it the company's mission to change the way the world works with metal.
LuminOre gives almost any material the appearance of being a solid cast metal object without the weight. The patented cold-spray, cold-cast process allows a thin layer of metal to be applied over any substrate, in virtually any configuration or design. LuminOre looks, feels and acts like hot-cast metal, yet no heat is needed. It will adhere to almost any surface: Foam, plastic, gypsum, wood, metal, fiberglass, plaster, ceramic, concrete, terracotta, cardboard and even paper. Once cured, the product has all the characteristics of a cast metal, including texture, luster and heat conductivity.
How can a metal be sprayed? The metal in LuminOre reacts with the binder, This makes the binder thinner than before the addition of the metal, allowing the material to spray through a 36-thousandths-of-an-inch orifice. The chemical reaction between the metal and the polymer binder turns the finished product into a composite metal. This is not a suspension of metal particles in the polymer system. The metal and binder actually combine to form a true composite metal. LuminOre is applied using standard HVLP (high volume, low-pressure) spray equipment - common tools that you may already own -- and is finished with standard metal polishing tools. It can be brushed or rolled on to a surface or cast solid. It can be coated on flexible surfaces and does not shrink. Once you apply or cast LuminOre, you treat it like solid metal. You may sand, sandblast, polish, wire brush, acid wash, and machine or seal it, even give it a hot patina wash. LuminOre is Cost-Effective LuminOre provides the look, feel and durability of solid cast metal without the expense, weight, inconvenience and time of a forged metal product. It is most economical at 8 to 10 mils thick (1 mils = .001). While comprised of up to 95 percent metal, LuminOre lacks the weight of solid metal. At its standard 10-mil thickness, LuminOre adds less than four ounces per square foot to an object. As a result of using LuminOre, our customers have found that they are able to increase their revenues significantly and without a large investment.

FRANK SINATRA LOVED WROUGHT IRON
FRANK SINATRA'S HOUSE, 915 Foothill Road, in Beverly Hills, California, has a wonderful wrought iron gate.
The floriated design and the love for the nature of "The Voice" give to this gate a very particular elegance.
The american-italian Frank Sinatra was arguably the most important popular music figure of the 20th century, his only real rivals for the title being Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, and the Beatles.
In a professional career that lasted 60 years, he demonstrated a remarkable ability to maintain his appeal and pursue his musical goals despite often countervailing trends.
On records and in live performances, on film, radio, and television, he consistently sang standards in a way that demonstrated their perennial appeal.
The same perennial appeal of wrought iron?
